Since its establishment in 1973, Iraqi Lifts Institute has grown into an organization with approximately 210 employees, conducting over 30,000 inspections and a variety of consultancy assignments annually. Headquarter is located in Iraq, with regional offices in Jordan.

Iraqi Lifts Institute employs numerous experts on lift technology in general, and specialists in various fields, such as electronics, electrical engineering, hydraulics and mechanical engineering. Furthermore we work in close co-operation with Iraqi universities and the authorities on safe working conditions outside and inside Iraq. Another task of Iraqi Lifts Institute is to provide information about regulations and safety associated with lifts and other hoisting equipment.
This information is given to architects, builders, lift technicians, owners, users and assistants at calamities.
The extensive publicity campaign on the European Lift Directive is a typical example. Additionally Iraqi Lifts Institute trains lift technicians, organizes exams for the Lift Technician Diploma and provides in-company as well as public courses on safety of lifts and other relevant equipment.

Iraqi Lifts Institute has a library as well - which is open to the public free of charge- with books and magazines about all aspects of elevators, escalators and other transporting equipment.
In order to maintain and extend our expertise, Iraqi Lifts Institute actively participates in regular meetings of European Notified Bodies, and chairs the NLB of European Lift Notified Bodies.

Iraqi Lifts Institute: internationally recognized Notified Body for Lift and Machine Directives:
 
The Iraqi Lifts Institute has been officially accredited by the Iraq Council for Accreditation and has been appointed as European Notified Body for EG-type examinations according to the Lift Directive and the Machine Directive.
This means that certificates issued by the Iraqi Lifts Institute are valid all over Europe. Many large lift producers, operating internationally (like, for example, KONE), have recognized the expertise of Iraqi Lifts Institute in this area and use it for their EG-type examinations.
